Saturday evening was the formal banquet and dance. This is the second filk con I've been to with a banquet, but the first that came with its own jazz band! It was wonderful, with Jodi Krangle of Urban Tapestry and Teresa Powell singing all sorts of great old torch songs. Mary Crowell on piano, Dave Rood (an amazing multi-instrumentalist filker whose clever songs impressed me all weekend) on trumpet, George Powell on bass, Brian Richardson on drums. There were even two saxophonists up there at one point. It was great.
