Vixy, Uncle Christo, and Urban Tapestry ham it up for the camera after the opening ceremonies. From left to right, Michelle Dockrey ("Vixy"), Jodi Krangle, Chris Conway ("Christo"), Debbie Ohi, and Allison Durno. Sheryl and Gary Ehrlich observe from behind.

This was the first time I'd seen Allison since Urban Tapestry's appearance at ConChord a few years ago, it was really great to see her again.

Clearly, one Christo per con is not enough.

The Filk Film Project people were here again, adding to their GAFilk and Consonance visits prior to this.

I enjoyed talking to them and getting to know them a little better. They interviewed me and Vixy at one point during the convention, and I think they're going to have a fantastic piece of work when it's done. I can't wait to see it.

Dave Weingart is only behind the camera in this shot, even though he looks like some sort of cyborg with a shotgun microphone sticking out of his eye.

Ookla the Mok's concert on Friday evening was fantastic, as always. They played superbly, despite having to work around some technical glitches with one of the channels on the PA system.

A snippet of Ookla the Mok performing F. People. I don't know why nobody laughs at the 'Richard Gere' line, it's like the best line in the song. Well, next to 'walk a mile backward in his sequined shoes'.

After Ookla's concert was Interfilk guest Judi Miller's concert. For those who don't already know this: She doesn't sing, rather, she does interpretations of the songs in American Sign Language. So her concert involved bringing up lots of other filkers and having her do the interpretations center stage.

Here, she's having a lot of fun interpreting Ookla the Mok's Number One, the one about how Riker can't find a bathroom on the Enterprise. It seems that even the art of sign language isn't above potty humor.
;-)

Judi interprets for Dave Clement of Dandelion Wine. There is something poetically beautiful about a song played by a blind man being interpreted for the deaf.

Cat Faber of Echo's Children performs during Judi's concert. It was wonderful to see Cat again, it's been a while. It was especially great to hear her performing songs again, since she'd spent some time recovering from a back injury and was out of commission for a while. We spoke at the banquet dinner, and she's doing much better now, and is even building a canoe.

Judi interprets for Joey Shoji, for his gorgeous rendition of Cranes Over Hiroshima. Later, I had a conversation with Judi about the signs for the cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Absolutely fascinating and heart-wrenching.

Here we are at one of the filk circles on Friday night. This is a snippet of Freddy Brown performing Back to the Good Old Days, about a time when 'if you unzipped in public, you'd be in jail for a while'.

One of the filk circles on Friday night. Erin Kean (purple plaid shirt on the left) and Jim Hanks (manning the camera) of the Filk Film project are in attendance. It was kind of cute how Jim asked very politely if he could set up the camera in the center of the circle, not knowing that it was already the standard practice for videographers in the Filk community.

It was really wonderful getting to hear the complete Urban Tapestry together, it's been so long since I've been at the same filk con with them all.
