July 31 2003, slightly different vantage point. Couldn't decide which one I liked better so you get both.

1.2 megabyte Animated GIF This is an animation of a vortex cloud that formed near our house during some unsettled weather on June 8th, 2004. Spotty thunderstorms were moving over the area that evening, and this particular one caught my eye. There were some unusually high winds (on an otherwise still evening) as that particular cloud mass moved over our house westward. Looking at it, I said to myself, 'Is that thing developing a funnel?' It never fully formed, but it sure looked like it was going to for a while. The reason I thought it was notable was because it was forming so fast (the images were captured over a period of only a few minutes) and because we are in a hilly area not known for tornado weather.
